Samsung is considered one of the world's most popular manufacturers for consumer electronics
because it competes in various industries. The company strives to target consumers that look for laptops, cameras,
portable media devices, home appliances, home theater components, and televisions. In the television category,
Samsung continues to drive innovation when they introduced their approach for 3-D televisions by sporting some of
the thinnest models in the CES 2010 event. Although Samsung didn't announce when they will release these new LED

Advantages
Samsung's recent 55-inch LED model packs a real bunch in a highly competitive 1080p LED market. It manages to
raise the bar by featuring a very high dynamic contrast ratio of 7,000,000:1 combined with a swift 2ms panel
response time. This means that you can enjoy some fast-paced content while being amazed with some very deep black
levels that is just a small step behind the Pioneer Kuro model which features the best black levels. To make the TV
an even tougher contender, the image quality is backed with a local dimming LED technology that makes pictures
sharper and more natural to real imagery. It also uses the Auto Motion Plus technology which processes at 240 Hz
compared to the others that go for the 120 Hz.
All of these features somehow make it inside a very slim 1.6-inch thickness making it an ideal centerpiece in
any home theater system. The design uses an ultra clear panel as well which further contributes to the overall
quality. It is also a great choice if you want to save energy as the UN55B8500 consumes around 40% less energy than
competing models. There is also one Ethernet port on the back that enables Internet connectivity to access online
sites like Yahoo!, YouTube, Flickr, and other services. These features are combined with the other advantages that
made previous Samsung models strong competitors.
Disadvantages
Although the UN55B8500 is highly-rich in features, this TV beauty comes with a very steep price tag going for
about $3,500. This is combined with below-average off-angle viewing which can be fixed if the TV is set up
properly. Although the 240 Hz is a great addition, it may be difficult to discern for some people.

Even with those minor drawbacks, online consumers were more than satisfied with the TV's overall presentation
and performance. Many view this particular model as the real replacement for plasma TVs. Frequent Samsung buyers

spending heavily on this unit, keep in mind that the screen is reflective so be sure to add curtains or blinds if
there are windows facing the TV for the best viewing experience.
